Do I need to have my computer on in order to use VoIP services?

No, your computer does not have to be on at all times in order for Voice over IP services to work.  Since Voice over IP services run off of your high speed internet modem, that does have to be up and running for your phone to work.     

Will my fax machine work with voip.com?

Although some fax machines may be compatible with their adapter, voip.com cannot guarantee that you'll find the fax performance satisfactory.
