The Best Value in VoIPOverall Rating: By: T Bowman on Friday, February 08, 2008From: Arlington, TX (United States) Experience: 3 Months Pros: The quality is good, but features and overall value is outstanding! Cons: Getting voicemail setup was initially challenging but now works well. The server response is often too slow, resulting in a frustrating online experience when making changes to the service or account.Summary: I have three home telephone lines. Service to all three lines was provided by a digital cable company. When the monthly base rate per line increased to $39.95, I decided to look at some alternatives. I switched one line to Phonedog, another to a major Bell carrier and the third to another VoIP company. Phonedog is the most feature-rich and easily managed but least expensive of the three. I'll be switching my other VoIP line to Phonedog as soon as my minimum commitment is satisfied. 18 out of 30 people found this review helpful
Customer Service FailsOverall Rating: By: Karen Souza on Wednesday, January 23, 2008From: Limington, ME (United States) Experience: 1 Years Pros: Cheap ratesCons: Poor customer service with no followthroughSummary: Credit card was charged 2 or 3 times a month for the same service. Called the company monthly, faxed copies of my credit card bills and the e-mail statements of what my monthly bill was supposed to be, but to no avail. No call back. Never got to speak with someone who could fix or explain the issue. Long "on hold" times also. I tried to resolve this for 1 year. Just awful! 23 out of 43 people found this review helpful
Good service - Low priceOverall Rating: By: Jan H. on Wednesday, January 16, 2008From: Willoughby Hills, OH (United States) Experience: 2 Years Pros: I don't make that many calls so this plan has worked well for me. I went from $40 per month in long distance charges to less than $10.Cons: NoneSummary: I usually pay more than the bill amount when it arrives (since it is so low). Then, I can go for a few months with no bill. It's worked well for me. 18 out of 37 people found this review helpful

OPEXOverall Rating: By: Douglas Franklin on Monday, January 07, 2008From: Grass Valley, CA (United States) Experience: 90 Days Pros: Efficient, Saves money, and avoids the big monopoly AT&T.Cons: None.Summary: When AT&T cut off my flat rate long distance service because I had a fax machine, it was a no-brainer to sign up with OPEX for the best rates available with no strings attached. 17 out of 31 people found this review helpful
ReviewOverall Rating: By: Jim Webster on Monday, December 24, 2007From: Ocean Pines, MD (United States) Experience: 4 Months Pros: Low costCons: Monthly minimum feesSummary: This service is installed at a vacation home; there are months when no LD calls are made, so it has no value for me during those months. 15 out of 33 people found this review helpful
opex value plus 2/7Overall Rating: By: mary honeysuckle on Friday, December 07, 2007From: ethel, LA (United States) Experience: 3 Months Pros: it takes a lot of pressure off making long distance calls when you know the bill is not going to dig into your grocery money.Cons: have noneSummary: I do recommend opex to all I know, my daughter is changing over now too. 15 out of 40 people found this review helpful
Lot and Lots of Dropped CallsOverall Rating: By: Thomas Schneider on Thursday, November 01, 2007From: Thompsonville, MI (United States) Experience: 12 Months Pros: The service is cheap, no doubt about itCons: Poor customer service, sounds like outsourced to Dehli. Poor quality, dropped calls. Website for online account maintainence was reworked a few months ago, new site is terribleSummary: We have calls dropped REGULARLY. The call will pop or get very loud then be disconnected, about 50% of the time an immediate redial will produce the message "I'm sorry, all long distance circuits are busy now..." .. My interpretation is they needed the line for someone paying more than 2.7 cents and threw me off! 23 out of 41 people found this review helpful
Unacceptable customer serviceOverall Rating: By: Annette Chalk on Thursday, October 04, 2007From: Fort Wayne, IN (United States) Experience: 60 Days Pros: To be determined, but signed up due to lowest rates.Cons: Horrible customer serviceSummary: It was easy to sign up, but took me a good month to get service actually activated. Opex told me via phone they were waiting on my local carrier to make the switch, I had to make the call. Now that under a new owner, have not been able to reach anyone, either too long of wait time or disconnected. E-mail was returned and waiting to see if another e-mail sent 3 days ago will be answered or returned. Also pessimistic my switching fee will be reimbursed. 23 out of 40 people found this review helpful
