A review of Cleartel

Overall Rating:
3.2 out of 5
By: Mary Domingue on Tuesday, January 17, 2006
From: Franklin, LA (United States)
Experience: 2 Months
Pros: It is slightly cheaper than the service that I had, and offers all of the same services.

Cons: It took over a month to get hooked up, which left me with no long distance service. Never could figure out why - got the run-around for a week or more. Also, seem to have a voice mail account that I have no idea how to use (i.e: how to retrieve the messages). It asks for a password, only I have never made one/received one!

Summary: Service itself is comparable to other popular plans, and is a value. I suppose I would recommend it to others for those reasons. The cons could probably happen anywhere.

Experience: 90 Days
Pros: The customer service people are what makes this such a great experience for me!

Summary: I've dealt with so many customer service people who were so rude in other businesses. When i called cleartel i was greeted and treated with such respect and patience that this definitely was the right choice for me to go with.

Credit for no service

Overall Rating:
2 out of 5
By: Michael Foster on Tuesday, November 01, 2005
From: Biloxi, MS (United States)
Experience: 3 Months
Pros: A little help on our not having phone service.

Cons: We lost our service back on Aug. 29 and did not get service back till two weeks ago on local and last week on our long distance. Still have to pay the total bill or lose our service.

Summary: Like the unlimited local and long distance calls that can be made and not have to worry about zones A, B, C, & D.

Better Results on Second Try

Overall Rating:
3.7 out of 5
By: Joanna Ragland on Friday, April 01, 2005
From: Gadsden, (United States)
Summary: I didn't sign up with ClearTel until March of 2005 because the Customer Service Rep failed to record and process my checking account information, which caused a delay in my receiving service about which I was not notified. This delay led to my being disconnected from the pre-paid carrier I had at the time, and I was extremely unhappy when I found myself without ANY home telephone service. So, I switched to another provider in January with whom I became dissatisfied because I was not getting all of the services that I needed and the cost was too high. That is why I decided to try ClearTel again. The second time around everything went smoothly and I'm very happy with the service. Thank you.

Since becoming a Cleartel Customer

Overall Rating:
2.3 out of 5
By: Henry Lewis on Saturday, February 12, 2005
From: Milwaukee, (United States)
Summary: To date the service has been fair with the exception of when the voicemail indicator was out for approximately 3 weeks and we had voice messages from that far back. We were not credited for the los of that service. That is disappointing. There is room for improvement.

Our Cleartel Service

Overall Rating:
2.7 out of 5
By: Tommy Adams on Wednesday, January 26, 2005
From: Leary, (United States)
Summary: Once the system got completely activated, we haven't had any problems. We were actually without long distance for almost a month during the transition. Almost everyone we call is a long distance call, so this was quite a delimna. Had we not had cell phones, we probably would have cancelled the order. We weren't able to get onto the internet either because the only local server was with Alltel (our former telephone service company). Needless to say, all of this made for quite an inconvenience!
We were also a little shocked at the amount of the "other" charges. Our $39.95 plan became almost $55! This is still a little less than it was costing us with Alltel, but again, it was just a shock! Overall, since everything is finally up and running, we are fairly pleased with our service.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Adams
P.S. My mother-in-law is thinking about switching, but the fact that we were without long distance for almost a month is a real factor in her deciding. She lives alone and all of her immediate family (with us being the only exception) is long distance. My husband and I work where it would be long distance for her to call us when we aren't home, even on our cell phones!
