Samsung Instinct-M800 Review - At Glance
Editor Rating: What’s Good: Supports every feature Sprint offers; EV-DO Rev. A data speeds; Good touchscreen response; Bright, clear display; Excellent GPS/navigation and voice command features; Good visual voicemail feature; 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo Bluetooth; Second battery included in packaging; Excellent value at $129 retail price
What’s Not Good: “Full HTML” Web browser is disappointing; No IM support; No calendar synching; No support for user-created ringtones or background images on menu screens; No phone as modem support on mandatory Simply Everything plan Bottom Line: Sprint’s new flagship media phone is a very good device, even if I wish they’d skipped the whole “Instinct vs iPhone” marketing campaign. The Web browser needs work and mobile IM addicts will be left in the cold by Instinct, but otherwise Instinct offers solid support across a huge variety of features and excellent implementation of GPS-based navigation and voice activated commands in particular. Though plans start at a hefty $70/mo, if you use the unlimited data, navigation, and Sprint TV it’s actually a good value. And you can’t beat the $129 price tag. Specs:

If you get a chance Noah you should tell your contacts at sprint to add more customization to the UI. I love thats it's easy and simple to use but it gets dull. And whats the longest time it takes to get all the app updates because I still haven't gotten mine. Monday, August 18, 2008Can you load music that you have already on your computer onto this phone or do you have to buy and download the music directly on the phone? Also, if you play music without headphones will the music play outloud? Please answer my question Thursday, August 14, 2008phonedog what,s up, are you going to help us make the instinct a nicer phone, by telling sprint all the stuff that should be on it, like nicer browser an nicer email an nicer background for pic,you do talk to sprint all the time, so what,s up are you going to help us or what Sunday, August 03, 2008Might......not "mite". Thanks - Alex Sunday, July 27, 2008Is there a way to set up certain ringtones for certain people? Thursday, July 24, 2008@Lonnie - Instinct will sync contacts and email, however calendar sync is not supported at this time. Possibly in a future software update. Thursday, July 17, 2008I am wondering if the Instict will sync to Outlook on a PC - Contacts, Calendar and Notes.
Also, what is the internal memory?
Thank you!
Lonnie Thursday, July 17, 2008the Simply Everything Plan is included, and actually required for this phone, and it includes unlimited text and photos and stuff like that.. what is NOT included however is the Sprint Music store, and some of the 'tv' channels, so if you're trying those features you will be charged. Also you'll be charged for using any '3rd party' app subscriptions should you start using any (by the usual $3 or $4/month deal).
(as far as i'm concerned, the SEP more than covers all the features i care to use for it) Friday, July 04, 2008hey CW Sidustar, did you get the Simply Everything plan with it and still get the extra fees for overage or whatever? cause i thought that with the SEP you can get unlimited for all the things they have and it gives you a fully listed list of everything that plan covers... Thursday, July 03, 2008Sure the phone is great but Sprint's sales/customer care is horrible!!! They deceive you in the selling points, you have to check your bill every month for over charges. Credits just disappear. I am leaving Sprint after 11 years and gave back 2 Instincts because of these horrible practices which are worse now than ever. New CEO??? That's a laugh! It's the same old Sprint. Monday, June 30, 2008This phone looks awesome, mine ships next monday |
