NTelos User Reviews![]() nTelosOverall Rating: By: NA NA on Saturday, August 23, 2008From: Clarksburg, WV (United States) Experience: 2 Years Pros: Very low prices, no hidden costs, small company with very reliable customer service.Cons: company is small.Summary: I have nTelos, and I think that the service is awesome. I have Uscellular also, and I have found that I have service in ALL the same places that I do with my US phone. nTelos is having a hard time getting these newer phones, bc the companies are not worried about selling 2000 phones to a small company, when they can turn around and sell Verizon 200,000. You do not want these small cell phone companies to go out of business...by doing this you are FORCED to pay Verizon prices, which most people cannot afford. nTelos offers unlimited plans as low as $50/month...where else can you find that? If you are not happy...go pay $60 somewhere else. Ntelos is NOT awesomeOverall Rating: By: Emily Miller on Monday, June 09, 2008From: Chesapeake, VA (United States) Experience: 6 Months Pros: I can not even think of anyCons: everything about NtelosSummary: NTELOS NEEDS TO COME OUT WITH NEWER AND BETTER PHONES!!! That MIGHT help, doubtfull.. Ntelos just has crappy phones and the good phones they do have, take forever to get. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR NTELOS, SELL YOUR COMPANY TO VERIZON! 1 out of 3 people found this review helpful
NTELOS StinksOverall Rating: By: HATER OF NTELOS on Thursday, June 05, 2008From: Staunton, VA (United States) Experience: 8 Years Pros: I have a friend who works there. Cons: THEY ARE.Summary: I have been with Ntelos since 2000. Since renewing my contract in December, my new phone has had problems. Even when I based a phone based on overall ratings and not the pretty factor. In the last month and give or take a few weeks, I have cussed more people for the lack of consideration in a contract, which is POSTPAY, and I am sure the smart people using this option have no idea. They provided me with 4 (that is correct) loaner phones over the span of about 3 weeks, which all were not fully functional, denied me a new phone, offered me a brand new "used" phone, and would not even let me purchase another phone at a "contract" or lesser cost. And all of this on top of running around to 3 different locations in my area (spending too much money on gas) about every other day. I would advise anyone who is looking to check your options and even consider pre-paid or pay as you go plans. At least with those choices, you can back out when you want. I suggest those who have had problems contact the Better Business Bureau. 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful
Horrible Customer ServiceOverall Rating: By: Joanna Adler on Wednesday, April 16, 2008From: Oakland, CA (United States) Experience: 1 Days Pros: ?Cons: Rude - and perhaps illegal activitySummary: I own a mail and parcel store (think Mail Boxes Etc but independent) and someone just called me from Ntelos wanting information on a boxholder. I was polite as could be and explained that it is illegal to give out info on customers. The person was sarcastic and rude and obviously doesn't care about the law. I certainly wouldn't want to do business with this company. 3 out of 6 people found this review helpful
Lose your phoneOverall Rating: By: joe on Wednesday, March 19, 2008From: dunbar, WV (United States) Experience: 2 Years Pros: noneCons: I lost my phone and the person who found it used it to download 150.00 dollars worth of stuff. You would think that that after you had been with a company for two years and never used brew to downloaded anything they would know it was not you doing it. I called and turned off my phone 24 hours ater i lost it and they still want me to pay!Summary: Ntelos sucks and just like every other company nowdays their customer service sucks!!!!! 5 out of 11 people found this review helpful
Response to: Can't stop lying.Overall Rating: By: John Q on Friday, December 28, 2007From: nowhere, KY (United States) Experience: 6 Years Pros: Just about everything.Cons: Upgrade PolicySummary: I'm an Ntelos employee and I do agree there are pro's and con's with the company, but you're complaining about coverage in a rural area. The only thing in Blacksburg is a college and it's covered. The tree's and wildlife don't need coverage. Everytime you hear someone complain about coverage, it's in the same darn spots every other company doesn't cover and no body lives there, but the person that's complaining. 26 out of 48 people found this review helpful
Nationwide roaming plan rocks!Overall Rating: By: s penick on Tuesday, November 20, 2007From: Chesapeake, VA (United States) Experience: 11 Months Pros: I LOVE Ntelos nationwide roaming plan, even though I stay in my area a lot. My phone gets a signal from the closest tower, and my reception rocks! In the underwater tunnel, out in the boondocks, wherever I go!Cons: Not as cheap as the regular Ntelos plan, but worth the difference.Summary: Can you hear me now? YES! - Okay, not in Home Depot, but the reception on the no roaming plan is amazing. 29 out of 46 people found this review helpful
PREPAID NTELOSOverall Rating: By: SHANTEL Gurley on Saturday, November 10, 2007From: HAMPTON , VA (United States) Experience: 4 Months Pros: Consistent bill each month and talk all you wantCons: sometimes your calls drop all too often, and if you go to ntelos store to pay your bill...you'll be there for 4everSummary: I have the unlimited pre-paid plan where I get unlimited calls (whenever)! This is good for someone whos constantly on the go or who talks alot. I love that my bill is the same every month...$80 thanks! and yes that includes text msgs. The only thing someone may have issues with is you have to have extra money on your account to get ringtones etc...but it is a pre-paid phone so that makes sense. When I first got my phone I dropped alot of calls and I hated it...but everthing is good now. My main complaint is going in the store to pay my bill!! They are always pack and you have to sign a sign-in sheet. They do not have a bill pay machine like other carriers. Time to upgrade!!! 21 out of 51 people found this review helpful
Text messaging is no longer free incoming or outgoingOverall Rating: By: Edward Harris on Tuesday, November 06, 2007From: Richmond, VA (United States) Experience: 10 Years Pros: The cheapest unlimited service of any carrier. Some other carriers don't even offer unlimited service.Cons: They nickel and dime you for things that used to be free. Like the incoming text messages. 1st minute of an incoming call free. And other services all gone.Summary: I live in the city of Richmond and I get good service 95% of the time. I've been a customer for about 10 years and the company is taking away more and more of the services from it's customers that have been loyal for years. They never (hardly ever) advise or alert you to a change that is to your benefit. It is your responsibility to ask about new services or changes. The $.01, $.99 or $20 phone deal is only for new customers. Too bad if you're already a customer and a better deal on a phone comes along. If you want the better phone or deal, you have to sign a new longer contract. Most likely a 2 year deal or pay the outrageously high prices they and other carriers charge for the phones. If you really want or need the new phone those are your chooses. Their people on the phones are very nice and try to help you. I know they can only do what the company allows them too. When the company 1st started providing service, they were the best around. Even though the service area was limited. But as they started getting bigger the service started becoming less customer friendly. But what is new about that, that's the way business is done in America. Get bigger, charge more and give less service. The American way. 21 out of 43 people found this review helpful
Can't stop lying, no coverage at homeOverall Rating: By: Edgar Howard on Monday, August 13, 2007From: Blacksburg, VA (United States) Experience: 8 Months Pros: When I travel Ntelos is fine. Their rates are a little lower, but you get what you pay for. Some of these reviews must have been written by N. employees paid to do it. Cons: No coverage where I live. But worst, after six months, they have lied the whole time about why. I'm a telco engineer so I know exactly why I don't have coverage. They won't spend the money to handle the call traffic in rural areas although they get tax $$$ to support rural areas. Never trust a liar. Summary: They don't use paper contracts so you never know what you are entitled to. I'm not sure this is legal. If I could get service (911) at home I might stay with them. But w/o service at home I have to find someone else. 27 out of 56 people found this review helpful
