![]() Great Plan... Boring Phone Selection!Overall Rating: By: Steve Dowd on Monday, December 31, 2007From: King, NC (United States) Experience: 17 Years Pros: I've been with Alltel since '95. Great reception. Great plan... with circle of friends. All phones have drop-outs... but with Alltel, they'll at least credit you a minute.Cons: Phones are HO-HUM! Reminds me of discount "wearhouse" marketing of limited selections of merchandise. Alltel needs to learn that THE PHONE IS AN ATTRACTION to the company as well as the plan!Summary: Overall, I wouldn't have any other carrier... 9 out of 24 people found this review helpful
What are you all complaining about?Overall Rating: By: Jacob Jinson on Wednesday, December 19, 2007From: Savannah, GA (United States) Experience: 5 Years Pros: Alltel owns the East Coast as far as coverage goes and is slowly heading westCons: Customer Service reps outsourced to overseas oftenSummary: Quite frankly, alot of you complain because you have had one bad experience with Alltel. This could of just as easily happened with any carrier. If you want coverage to be in specific locations like big cities, tell Verizon,ATT,Sprint and T-Mobile to stop being little whiny asses and give cell tower rights to alltel like alltel does for them.Main reason for this is because these companies dont want Alltel invading the big city market. They want to keep them out in the country to keep them from growing too much faster than the rest.Might be much cooler phones on other networks than alltel, but phone service is what matters. And when you travel like I do,your not always in a New York city or Philly. 14 out of 31 people found this review helpful

lousy customer serviceOverall Rating: By: peter witlin on Sunday, December 02, 2007From: naples, FL (United States) Experience: 1 Days Cons: rude customer service reps Not standing behind their mistakes Summary: I was going to switch to Alltel and set it all up one morning 2 lines new phones and so forth. The phones were to be shipped in 4 days so a port of the numbers were to be done in 5 days after new phones arrived.....2 hours later my number was ported I called they said it was port by my request Duh! NOT...after all day on borrowed phones and running all over town at Alltel rude cusomers service reps request for a loaner phone and no such luck. The alltel stores and alltel over the phone and internet are all sub companies(beware)They said I had to call Att to have my number ported back to att. Not one person said they were sorry! So 530 that night I had it! I cancelled Alltel and ported back to ATT They still charged activation fees and a early diconnect penalty charge. Then 4 days later they ported my other number after being told not too and the sevice was cancelled for 4 days already!?. They still wont refund my money. DONT GO TO ALLTEL People, they are rude, lie and cheat! 14 out of 29 people found this review helpful

Run like you stole something from alltelOverall Rating: By: carson Pittman on Saturday, November 10, 2007From: ambler, PA (United States) Experience: 1 Years Pros: if you like dropping calls, disputing your bill, horrible customer service, and expensive plans this company s for you.Cons: i don't have the time. You could call me but then again i don't get good reception in Philadelphia. Summary: If you want to sum up Alltel here it is. “I called last week to dispute my bill and because of the horrible reception the lady said I can’t hear you.” The most important reason not to get Alltel is because no one you know is on their network. Most service providers give you mobile to mobile. Alltel, does too but who do you know who has Alltel? All the people I call are on at&t, verizon, or tmobile. Because of this Alltel was the first company to introduce my circle but what they don’t tell you is that you have to pay 60 a month to get that service. Secondly, their coverage area is spotty at best. I have used Alltel in many major cities and the service is terrible. I drop calls like crazy. Their customer service is horrendous. If you are thinking about Alltel do yourself a favor and run away like you stole something. 23 out of 33 people found this review helpful
Dissapointing customer serviceOverall Rating: By: Sherry Sample on Friday, October 19, 2007From: Charlotte, NC (United States) Experience: 20 Days Pros: Did have good experience for past 4 yearsCons: Broken phone, different information from every customer support person we talked to, feeling like we are trapped with a bad company and phone that doesn't workSummary: We are very dissapointed with Alltel customer service! I'm sure they are all nice people, but we've had ten different conversations with ten different people about the same issue: a broken phone. We've had one number with Alltell with four plus years and been happy with coverage and support. Recently, we added a second number to our plan and chose the free phone with new service, which happened to be a Motorola Razr. Within a week, the screen looked like it had black ink behind it and the "ink blob" kept growing. We went back to the store to exchange the phone thinking that it was defective. We were told by the Alltel representative that the damage was physical (aka: my fault) and that our only option was to pay $50 to get the phone fixed. They said this damage was done by pressure to the screen, even though the phone stayed closed in my purse most of the time. We can also stab the phone with a pen to show that pressure does not cause this sort of damage. Beware, this is what we learned: gather ALL of the insurance specifics before walking away from the store-we were not aware of any deductables, the 14 day exchange period only exists if the phone remains in pristine condition and every person you talk to about a problem will tell you something different. I now have a phone that doesn't work and am very unhappy with the provider and I can't change that or will be charged $200. 23 out of 39 people found this review helpful

Alltel is GreatOverall Rating: By: Tracy Gaddis on Wednesday, October 10, 2007From: Nekoosa, WI (United States) Experience: 7 Months Pros: My Circle Plan, Cheap plan rates, discounts to military members, great customer serviceCons: no free roaming, not enough My Circle numbersSummary: I have used Cingular and Verizon for the past 10 years and recently switched to Alltel. when I lived in Georgia, I had problems with both Cingular and Verizon to the point that I had to switch several times just to have a working phone. I recently moved to Wisconsin and had NO Cingular coverage. It took less then 10 minutes for them to let me out of my contract because of the lack of coverage. I then went back to Verizon and had great service except for the fact I could not call customer service from my cell phone. I was told that there were no Verizon towers in the area and I was using US Celluar towers. Several months went by and I continued seeing the Alltel commercials for My Circle. I finally called Verizon and they had no problem letting me out of my contract. Since going to Alltel, I have saved over $30 a month for my wireless plan. I have 1000 anytime minutes that my wife and I use and I have not went over 300 minutes at anytime. I think we talked over 3500 minutes that included My Circle and M2M. Now we have decided to move back to the south. I called Alltel and they advised that they do not have many locations in the south that are covered by their towers. When I heard this, I was scared that my phone was not going to work or I was going to get stuck with roaming charges. Alltel told me that they used Verizon and Sprint towers so I felt a little better. Since that time, I have traveled a great deal for job interview and have not been charged with any roaming fees. I have hit a few dead spots on the interstate and have had some dropped calls but nothing like I had with Cingular and Verizon. I think the My Circle plan is by far the greatest cell phone plan that has ever been created. I will never go back to Cingular or Verizon as long as Alltel has the My Circle plan. The only thing that I would change if I had my way is the number of My Circle numbers. I would allow each plan to have at least 15 numbers instead of 10. If Alltel added five extra numbers, then they would have the perfect cell phone plan. Either way, I am not going to complain because it is still better then all the others. And one other thing, their commercials are really funny and they work. I have told all of my friends in Georgia about Alltel but they are afraid that they will have problems and no stores to take care of them. If Alltel would push their product more in the south, they would own the cell phone market. 30 out of 45 people found this review helpful
cell phone phantom charging?Overall Rating: By: Brandon Brown on Monday, October 08, 2007From: Rankin, TX (United States) Experience: 4 Months Pros: dont have to even use my cell phone chargerCons: dont know if it will adversly affect my phone in the long runSummary: I have a samsung wafer for a personal phone and a v262 motorola with an extended life battery in it. I went to bed and forgot my wafer charger in the living room, too lazy to get up I plugged in my v262 to the wall charger and set my wafer on top of it, not to lose it. The next morning I got up went to work and noticed my wafer had a full charge, I knew this could not be right becuase it had one bar left on the battery when i had went to bed, i figured it was a glitch and the phone would die soon that day, it did not the phone held the charge all as if it had been charged all night. I have tried this about 4 other times with the same results Its pretty cool but i want to make sure it is not hurting my wafer's battery to do this, if anyone has heard of this or knows anything about it please let me know. 20 out of 34 people found this review helpful
