How long after signing up will my Lingo adapter arrive?

After signup and approval for services, your new Lingo phone adapter and start-up kit will be delievered in 3 to 5 business days.  Once you have received your start-up kit, plug in your phone, connect to your high speed internet connect and your new Lingo services will be activated in no time!

Why isn't Alaska or Hawaii listed as an option in the long distance section?

Unfortunately at this time the resale long distance companies that we compare do not offer service in Alaska or Hawaii.

With ECG long distance will my current phone features still work?

Yes, you can sign up with ECG online and still use your caller ID and other features that you have with SBC.  ECG will just be your long distance provider and that will not change any features you currently have with your local service provider.

When I switch to Pioneer long distance, do they notify my local provider?

Yes, Pioneer Telephone will contact your local provider to complete your new long distance transfer.  You would only be required to contact your local provider if you had a long distance freeze on your account.  This freeze would keep Pioneer from being able to complete the transaction for you.

Can I still switch to Cleartel services even though I have an alarm system?

Yes, you will be able to receive local and long distance service with Cleartel without it affecting your alarm.  However, to help customers feel safe, we always like to recommend that after your services have been transferred you contact your alarm company to verify your system is operating properly.

How often do the long distance providers raise their rates?

It is very rare that the providers on our website change the rates from the rates that are listed.  Unfortunately there is not any guaranteed period for the rates you sign up for, but if the provider does happen to change the rates, you will be informed directly.  At that point, you can either stay with the provider or look for alternative options.  We find in a lot of cases that the long distance providers we review, actually opt...

Do you tell our current carrier or do we cancel our own long distance services?

Most of the providers on our website will inform your current provider of the change for you.  However, we always recommend that you follow up with your current provider to be sure that they cancel your services once the new service is active.  This helps to ensure that there are no misunderstandings.

How can I get a ringtone on my phone?

There are two ways in which to download ring-tones and other multimedia content to your phone. You can download ring-tones directly to your phone. You can purchase a compatible data cable and software for your specific phone make and model.  

Do I need to have DSL service with my local phone company to switch to VoIP?

No you would not need DSL services.  In order to receive VoIP services, you would actually need to have a high speed internet connection, DSL service will not work.  In most areas now, high speed internet services are offered by local cable companies.

What if I received my confirmation email and something is wrong?

Contact us immediately at info@telecomhelp.org and we will be more than happy to make any necessary corrections to your order.  If you do not discover the error until 24 to 48 hours after the order was placed, your order may have advanced to the next level of processing and you would then be required to contact the provider directly.   

Is there a limit to the length of time a cell phone can remain listed in the marketplace?

A phone can only be listed on our website for 3 months after we approve the listing.  If you are not getting a response to your inquires the person selling the phone may have already sold that phone, but forgot to take the phone off our listing page.  However, if you are inquiring about a certain phone (or 3-4) and no one is responding to you, please let us know which phones and each seller’s name and e-mail address.  Thanks!

Why does Thumbplay appear when I try to purchase a game or ringtone from your site?

The reason this is happening is because we use Thumbplay for customers who are wanting to purchase games and ring tones.  As a partner of our site, we are able to offer you a larger selection of downloads from Thumbplay.  

Do I get charged for dialing a toll free number with Pioneer long distance?

When making a call to a toll free number, the party you are calling will be charged for the call, not you.  If you were wanting for others to be able to call you using a toll free number, Pioneer Telephone does offer this service.  In that situation, each time someone used your toll free number you would be billed for those calls.     

What number can I call to verify my long distance provider has been switched?

To find out who your long distance provider is you may call 1-700-555-4141.  This call must be made from your home phone.  If the name is unfamiliar, it is likely that the long distance carrier is using the line of another carrier.  (ie Pioneer uses Global Crossing in most cases)  Feel free to contact your new provider, if you have any questions.

Do I need to have my computer on in order to use VoIP services?

No, your computer does not have to be on at all times in order for Voice over IP services to work.  Since Voice over IP services run off of your high speed internet modem, that does have to be up and running for your phone to work.     

Will my fax machine work with voip.com?

Although some fax machines may be compatible with their adapter, voip.com cannot guarantee that you'll find the fax performance satisfactory. The newer model all-in-one machines seem to work with some modifications made to them. And don't worry, voip.com customer service would be able to help you with that.

What is the local calling area?

The "regional calling area" is the area just beyond your "local calling area" but is not considered regular long distance. You would always select "regional calling area" unless you pay your local phone company an additional monthly fee, which is very rare and usually more expensive. You can refer to the front of your local telephone book to find out how far your local calling area extends, and when the "regional calling area" begins.
